To add a crown to the initiatives and events that we have put forward to celebrate our 250th anniversary, a just-published book, entitled "The Folladors", traces the family’s very long journey. The story, introduced by Gianfranco Follador, is divided into seven chapters and begins with the dramatic frost of 1709. Historical accounts tell of the devastating weather event- which was experienced in person by Martin, the father of Giovanni Follador who exactly sixty years later, in 1769, saw the quality of his wines recognized and attested to by the Doge Alvise IV of the patrician house of the Mocenigo.
In the background throughout the winery’s early years, there are the great historical events: the advent of the Century of Enlightenment, the dominion of the Serenissima Republic and the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy. Gradually, the narrative focuses on the events of our ancestors, the minutae of their everyday life, the small and big victories they achieved, all the while laying the roots for the development of a Territory destined to reach great goals. The book is the result of months of historical and genealogical research, carried out by the family and their consultants, and is richly illustrated with photos and archive images that accompany the historical narrative.
The tome concludes with two photo galleries that represent some moments of this past year and the festive occasions organized throughout 2019. The weekend in Venice on 8 and 9 June and the stunning dinner event held at the Company on 20 July 2019. A small tribute to those who have been close to us and have shared with us the enthusiasm for this important anniversary.
The volume, published by Aurelia Edizioni, is bound with a hardcover with an elegant dust jacket dominated by the image of a harvest in the family vineyards in the 1960s.
