We embark on the 23rd edition of “The Spring of Prosecco Superiore” as the season begins. This is the most well known and beloved enotourism event in the Veneto region. Once again this year, people will cross the Alta Marca hills to discover the small villages that dot the slopes of the valley, surrounded by vineyards that in a few weeks will make the Conegliano Valdobbiadene verdant.
The official start is March 17 in the village of Santo Stefano, where the 49th Mostra del Valdobbiadene and Cartizze DOCG is inaugurated; then as every year the events and meetings will unfold through 16 other villages and hamlets. The longest running event, which began in 1953, takes place from March 24th to April 15th in Col San Martino, the town where the historic headquarters of the Follador Company are located. The traditional Valdobbiadene DOCG exhibition practices the custom of local winemakers who offer a glass of wine on Sunday to the people who meet in the piazza of their town. This tradition began in a much simpler era, back when the current international success of prosecco could not have been imagined.
As always, the calendar of events is full and varied: cultural events alternate with sporting events, such as the usual cycling races. And then there are the eno-gastronomic events including exhibitions, seminars and conferences dedicated to the world of enology. In spite of all this activity, many people choose to participate by simply taking a walk along any of the many suggested routes, admiring the beauty of a landscape that, during the spring, offers the best of itself. Many of the places that offer accommodation in the area have special packages for the Primavera del Prosecco Superiore events, making it simpler for tourists and locals to enjoy farm holidays, luxurious hotels or quaint bed & breakfasts.
Naturally, the real hero of the event is Prosecco DOCG. The Follador Company also opens its doors to visitors who can taste our exquisite Prosecco, including two new products: the Millesimato Extra Brut Kleofe and the Millesimato Pas Dosé Brut Nature, both suitable for vegan eonophiles and those looking for sparkling wine a little lower in calories but still high in excellence.
Our large and welcoming room has recently been made even more beautiful and comfortable, ready for those who will visit it during the Spring of Prosecco Superiore.
