The 22nd annual Spring of Prosecco Superiore is in full swing through June. This lively schedule of events attracts more than 300,000 tourists from Italy and abroad to the Conegliano Valdobbiadene. Started in 1996, this event brings together all the entities involved in the development and promotion of the area: the Prosecco DOCG Road, Conservation Consortium of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, the Association of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Exhibitions and Gal Altamarca.
The 2017 festivities began in March with the St. Stephen’s exhibition and featured numerous wine-making events. In addition to the tastings, events range from concerts, to themed evenings, to excursions between churches and the exploration of ancient villages.
The subject of this year’s photo competition is the sundial. Scattered throughout our towns and villages, sundials are a fun and unique way to focus attention on a charming detail found on many facades of local Conegliano Valdobbiadene architecture.
Among all the festivals of Primavera del Prosecco Superiore, the oldest is that of Col San Martino, where Follador’s company headquarters is situated. This year marks its 61st year celebrating spring. This year is the carrying on of the legacy of hospitality and conviviality which began when local producers first made it a tradition to offer a glass of wine to people in the village square on a Sunday. It’s a tradition still alive and honored today.
