The National Gallery in London 2017 will toast it’s first Italian artists exhibit of the year, “Michaelangelo and Sebastian” on March 15th. The exhibit is dedicated to the cooperation and friendship between the two famous painters of the sixteenth century and will be open until June 25th. We are proud to report that Follador continues its collaboration with the National Gallery at this great artistic event as its official supplier.
The exhibition has about seventy works by the two masters of the Renaissance, including paintings, drawings, sculptures and even letters, guiding visitors to discover how Michelangelo and Sebastiano del Piombo were are artistically inspired and how they helped one another. The most important and impressive pieces are definitely the two celebrated works in which they worked together, the “Pieta” of the Civic Museum of Viterbo and “The Raising of Lazarus”, which is part of the permanent collection of the National Gallery.
Both altarpieces are considered among the greatest masterpieces of art history. Michelangelo helped his Venetian friend by first outlining the contours of the figures on a type of cardboard. The contribution of Michelangelo and the strength of his hand emerge through the tension, the strength, and the drama of the characters.
We are honored to once again be the ambassadors of Italian excellence in this prestigious setting in one of the most important art galleries in the world; confirming again the fact that our country plays an important role on the international stage, both through its invaluable artistic heritage is through its beloved wine-making traditions such as the Prosecco Superiore DOCG.
Cristina Follador, Sales & Marketing Director of the Company, welcomed the confirmation of this collaboration: “The best way to communicate and promote the values of our Terroir is the presence of the Follador brand in the most prestigious international contexts related to the world of culture, sport and solidarity.”
